The washing cycle is shorter / longer than indicated on the display
Issue
- Washing time changes on the display
- The washing cycle is shorter than indicated on the display
- The washing cycle is longer than indicated on the display
Applies to
- Front Load Washer
- Front Load Washer Dryer
Solution
1. The washing machine calculates the time according to the load, and the time displayed follows this estimate, which in most cases is very close to the actual program length.
The washing machine calculates the time according to the selected cycle, the load and load size and displays an estimated time accordingly.
- Depending on the model and the wash program, the display may correct the program duration at the beginning or towards the end of wash program.
- If your washing machine has a weight sensor, it is important that you turn the machine on first and then choose a cycle, before you load any laundry in the machine. In this case, the weight sensor will work properly.
Selected models may have the following options
- Time Save (another name: "Time Manager") function is used to reduce washing time. Consult the for detailed information.
- If your laundry is normally or lightly soiled, it may be advisable to shorten the washing program. Touch this button once to decrease the duration.
- In case of smaller load, touch this button twice to set an extra quick program. In this case, the temperature of 95C is not selectable.
- ProSense Load Detection: The appliance detects the load in the first 30 seconds, and the drum rotates shortly. When the drum stops rotating, the display shows the new program duration, that could increase or decrease, adjusted accordingly to the load detected.
- Sensor Wash: The initial time displayed on the control panel indicates the time needed for the maximum dirt level.
- When using this option, the washing machine will automatically check the dirt level and detergent residue on your laundry. The machine will automatically adjust the washing time and numbers of rinses according to the load to make sure that your clothes are really clean.
- Note: only suitable for liquid detergent dose
- If the machine is filled with wet clothes, for example as a result of pre-soaking, this can also result in different washing times.
2. A smaller load or a change in the type of laundry can reduce the washing time significantly.
- Sometimes the load may be unbalanced, and the washing machine skips the spin cycle to prevent damage to the appliance.
- An excessive load or one heavy piece of laundry can create an imbalance in the washing machine during spinning.
3. An unbalanced load will extend the duration of the cycle.
- The electronic unbalance detection device has cut in because the laundry is not evenly distributed in the drum. The laundry is redistributed by reverse rotation of the drum. This may happen several times before the unbalance disappears and normal spinning can resume.
- This will extend the cycle time.
- If, after 10 minutes, the laundry is still not evenly distributed in the drum, the machine will not spin. In this case, redistribute the load manually and select the spin program.
4. Factors that influence the duration of the program are:
- Amount of laundry
- Water inlet temperature
- Water pressure
- Excessive foaming and load imbalance
5. To keep the program running time as low as possible, you should pay particular attention to the following factors:
- Water pressure
- Detergent dosing
- Uniform loading of the washing machine
